  • Analysis identifies textual and mood-based data within unstructured text and the relationships between the data.Unlike other approaches (static and linguistic indexing) no pre-defined elements are needed to do the analysis

  • 1. A journalist writing a story about the adoption of the healthcare bill in the U.S,will most likely have a problem in getting a quick overview of the most important items in his news sources that in his mind are connected to the healthcare bill. Most likely he will have some keywords in mind such as Obama, healthcare, republicans, vote, campaign etc.To get a view on what he should know about these keywords, he typically will carry out a series of searches and browse to the result list. Most of his time will be used to read information he already knows.Analysis in this case will help him in being faster and more complete because as soon as he starts typing 'Obama' for example, the system will bring up the most relevant word groups about Obama in order of importance. With this he instantly has an insight in the structure of the news and he can immediately rule out word groups about Obama for which the system doesn't show results.

  • 2. A medical doctor in the hospital often sees patients he doesn't know.Commonly he needs some information about medication, family history, allergies, known diseases and maybe addictions of the patient. Whenever this is possible,he will question the patient about these elements and in ideal situation check the patient's answers with the information he can read in the record of the patient. However in most clinical situations access to this mostly unstructured information is not accurate and quick enough.Analysis can make the life of the MD a lot easier because it will help him in immediately check presence of information about the keywords he has in mind. For example checking the presence of information about allergies for that patient can simply be done by typing in 'allerg...' and the system will come back with all the word groups(such as penciline allergy) it can relate to that sequence in the record of the patient.Absence of results gives the MD the certainty there is no known direct information about the keyword he had in mind.
